# Day 0 - Getting Ready ## Packing We are packing light for this trip. According to the suggestions from the wise people of the internet, space is at a premium in Japan, and therefore hotel rooms, taxis, busses, trains and planes all don't have a whole lot of room for luggage. Consequently we are stuffing all of our belongings for this 23 day trip into one 40L backpack and one personal item each. Behold, here is Manu's stuff: ![[photos/day-0-pack.jpg]] It is almost surprising how much you can get into a single backpack. We'll see if we miss anything, but so far it seems like we are bringing more than enough. ## The last night After all that packing and getting the house ready for leaving a little celebratory beverage is more than adequate.
